Changes

Well, this year is different for the Hewes family. First of all, I have started working only on the weekends at night. Yes, I work every Friday, Sat., Sun. night from 7p-7a. The reason I have changed to this unusual schedule is to accomodate some changes. Mark is back in school! He is a full time student at the University of South Alabama. He is trying to finish up what he started years ago. His major is in Communications/Public Relations. This is good b/c he has work experience in this field. Not only is Mark going to school and juggling the demands of a wife and two young children, he is also working part time from home selling promotional products. He has been doing this job for several years. The girls are doing well. Ella is in 4k at Eastern Shore Baptist. She LOVES it and is learning so much. Morgan starts mom's day out there today! She will be going three days a week. Because I have to work on Sat. night I ran into the problem of going to church. I get off at 7am, and the church we have been going to 30 miles away does'nt start til 11a. There is no way that I could stay awake for church service, eat lunch and only get a few hours of sleep b/f another 12hour shift. So, the fam and I have decided to go to a church right up the street from us. It has a 8am service that we go to and a great Sunday School program for childre and adults. Although it has been sad to leave our old church, I think this new church is going to be good for us. This is something that we pray about everyday. We also struggle with the idea of not wanting to stay here on the Gulf Coast. We enjoy being so close to our families and appreciate their help, but we greatly miss the Birmingham area too. We miss our dear friends there. Who kknows where we will be when Mark graduates. Ijust pray that God will guide us and open the door to great opportunities for this family.

What girls do when they are bored!

I was home alone with the girls one night and we were trying to think of things to do. Suddenly, Ella and her imagination came up with the idea to " dress up Morgan" . Well, the pictures speak for themselves. We had fun and Morgan did not seem to mind.

Has it already been ten years?

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending my husband's ten year high school reunion. He was on the planning commitee, so I got a " behind the scene " view of the event. We had an amazing time!! It was great hanging out with old friends. Everyone seemed to be doing great. The weekend started with a dinner at Wintzell's in Mobile. The room was booked for 50 people and 130 people showed up!!! Amazing. On Sat., we met at Good Ol' Murphy High for a pep rally and school tour. The band and cheerleaders were there. It felt like old times. Ella and Morgan had a blast! There was a cocktail party at the Exploreum that night, which by the way, is a perfect place to have an event. Everyone seemed to have a fantastic time. Needless to say, the night did not end till around 3 am. Much fun, Much fun! Anyway, the past ten years have FLOWN by!!!! I guess time flies when you are having fun!!!

E.T. Phone Home

E.T is a classic movie that most of us enjoyed at some point of our lives. It had been a while since I had seen the movie. Last night, we caught a glimpse of E.T. on television. Ella, our 4yr old, thought that he was adorable!! So what do we do? We pull E.T out of our movie archives and watch it with Ella. Let's just say it was not a good idea! She was up all night crying and screaming. Apparently she believes that aliens are going to get her. She ended up sleeping with us. We are fighting the same battle tonight. I had really forgotten how scary it was! We are no longer speaking of E.T. in our house for a while!

Welcome to our Krewe

Okay, so I have always wanted a blogspot. What better time than the present, right? I titled my blogspot, Krewe De Hewes. It is a kind of take off on Mardi Gras since we live in the land o' Mardi gras. My family consists of my loving husband, Mark. We were high school sweethearts ( awww ). We also have two beautiful daughter's, Ella and Morgan. Ella Kate was born via c- section on April 30, 2004 at UAB hospital in Birmingham. We were living in the Birmingham area at that time. She is now four years old and is the joy of our lives. She makes me laugh Everyday! Mark and I realized that we were expecting Ella shortly after getting married. She was definately a surprise, but I know everyday why God sent her to us. Morgan Adelaide Hewes was born November 9, 2007 at USA Children's and women's hospital where I am employed as a labor and delivery rn. She was born via VBAC. Way to go VBAC'ers!!!Morgan has been a little ray of sunshine since the day she was born. She is so easygoing. She is my chubby, bald, blue-eyed girl. Anyway, Mark and I have been trying to figure out this " married with children" thing. With God's help and the love of our families and friends we can do it! This blog is to journal my thoughts and our family's adventures. Enjoy!!!
